Brief Curriculum Vitae of the Cretan Association of Nea Smyrni

The historical non profit Cretan Association of Nea Smyrni was founded in 1949.

Since then it has been involved in several activities both in Greece and abroad, having held various major cultural events.
The association’s goals are the preservation and maintenance of the historical tradition and the Greek customs, as well as the organization of educational seminars and recreational trips.

Our projects include various activities, the most significant of which are:

The folkloric seminar along with the presentation of the Cretan dances in the city of Grenoble in France in November 2016.
The Association’s participation in the International Folklore Festival of Venice in May 2018.
The Association’s participation in the Biggest Folkore Festival of Krakow in Poland in July 2019.
The harmonious pairing of the traditional rhythms and dances of Crete along with the Andalousian region.
The concert of the famous and popular performer Michalis Tzouganakis in the Ionian festival in Nea Smyrni in combination with the performance of Cretan dances by our association.
The concert of the famous and popular performer Vasilis Skoulas in the Ionian festival in Nea Smyrni in combination with the performance of Cretan dances by our association and many other events.
The presentation of the Cretan dances celebrating the 20 years of the Paralympic games committee’s foundation, in the Athens Concert Hall.
The tangible proof of the commendable operation of our association is the large number of people participating – not necessarily of Cretan origin- in its various activities.
