Η σειρά «ΣΑΝ ΠΑΡΑΜΥΘΙ», στο επεισόδιο με τίτλο «Ο ΣΑΛΗΣ», μας παρουσιάζει τη ιστορία ενός σχεδόν μυθιστορηματικού προσώπου που συνδέθηκε άρρηκτα με την πόλη των ΧΑΝΙΩΝ. Ο άνθρωπος αυτός ήταν ο ΣΑΛΗΣ ΧΕΛΙΔΟΝΑΚΗΣ, όπως τον ονόμασαν οι Χανιώτες. Ένας νεαρός μουσουλμάνος που δούλευε ως βαρκάρης στο λιμάνι της πόλης, ένας μαύρος που ξεχώριζε μέσα από το πλήθος όχι για το χρώμα του δέρματός του αλλά για την καλοσύνη της ψυχής του. Πασίγνωστος για την ευσπλαχνία του ήταν αγαπητός σε κάθε ένα κάτοικο του νησιού. Για τον πρωταγωνιστή του επεισοδίου μιλούν ο τραγουδοποιός, ΛΟΥΔΟΒΙΚΟΣ ΤΩΝ ΑΝΩΓΕΙΩΝ αλλά και η ΑΡΓΥΡΩ ΚΟΛΙΑΚΟΥΔΑΚΗ, ο ΘΑΝΑΣΗΣ ΖΑΒΙΑΝΕΛΗΣ-ΑΪΒΑΛΙΩΤΗΣ, ο ΚΩΝΣΤΑΝΤΙΝΟΣ ΚΟΛΙΑΚΟΥΔΑΚΗΣ και ο ΚΩΝΣΤΑΝΤΙΝΟΣ ΧΑΒΡΕΣ, όλοι κάτοικοι της πόλης που γνώριζαν τον ΣΑΛΗ. Το ΔΗ. ΠΕ. ΘΕ. ΚΡΗΤΗΣ ανεβάζει μια παράσταση με θέμα της τον ίδιο τον ΣΑΛΗ με τίτλο «ΣΑΛΗΣ, Ο ΜΑΥΡΟΣ ΒΑΡΚΑΡΗΣ». Στη κάμερα της εκπομπής μιλούν ο Καλλιτεχνικός Διευθυντής ΔΗ. ΠΕ. ΘΕ. ΚΡΗΤΗΣ, ΜΙΧΑΛΗΣ ΑΕΡΑΚΗΣ και ο ηθοποιός που υποδύεται τον ΣΑΛΗ, ΝΑΝΤΕΡ ΑΧΜΕΝΤ. Όταν ο ΣΑΛΗΣ απεβίωσε, παρόλο που ήταν μουσουλμάνος, ύστερα από πίεση και με τη δωρεά της τοπικής κοινωνίας θάφτηκε σε χριστιανικό νεκροταφείο. Στη μαρμάρινη πλάκα, στον τάφο του, χαράχτηκαν οι εξής στίχοι: «Ας ήσουν μαύρος, ας μην ήσουν Χριστιανός, ας ήταν μαύρη η μορφή σου, μ’ από το χιόνι πιο λευκή ήτανε η ψυχή σου».
